Eggnog
Serves 2
Eggnog is traditionally enjoyed during the holidays, and this alternative recipe is made with unsweetened almond milk and cashews and is free of dairy and refined sugar.
Cashews are high in protein and are a rich source of vitamin B and iron, selenium and zinc. They are also packed with anti-cancer compounds called proanthocyanidins. Cashews also have a lower fat content than most other nuts and contain a high amount of oleic acid, which is a heart healthy monounsaturated fat that is great for the cardiovascular system.
Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup raw cashews
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 3 pitted dates
- 1 tsp vanilla (if desired)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom
- ¼ tsp ground turmeric (for color)
- The contents of 1 Primeadine® capsule
Method:
Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until very smooth and frothy for about 3 minutes.
Pour into glasses and sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Serve immediately.
Spermidine-rich canapés
Top gluten-free or sourdough toast with spermidine-rich chicken liver paté and top with cranberry jelly or sauce (recipe below). Delish!
Make sure to use high-quality chicken liver pate, or make your own! Our favorite is Dr. Terry Wahl's recipe.
Cranberry Sauce
This is a delicious and easy recipe to add to any Thanksgiving or Holiday menu, without using sugar.
- 3 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 orange, juice and zest
- ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
In a medium sized saucepan, add cranberries, orange juice, orange zest, maple syrup, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the cranberries have broken down. Let cool.
