The Difference Between Primeadine Original and Primeadine GF

The Difference Between Primeadine Original and Primeadine GF

Customers frequently ask us what the difference is between our products - Primeadine Original and Primeadine GF, so we decided to break down the key differences here to help you make an informed decision.

Primeadine Original: The Wheat Germ-Derived Option

Primeadine Original is a food-derived spermidine supplement derived from concentrated Japanese wheat germ. Its key features include:

  • The spermidine content is naturally derived from wheat germ, which is the most potent food source of spermidine. We choose to defat our wheat germ to ensure there are no potentially rancid PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) present which can cause inflammation in the body when left
  • Contains 1mg of spermidine per dose
  • The serving size is 3 capsules a day
  • Also contains the naturally co-occurring spermine and putrescine, which help your body produce more spermidine
  • Includes a unique prebiotic fiber, called FOS, that supports your body's natural ability to produce spermidine by feeding the spermidine-producing bacteria in your gut biome
  • Contains a small amount of gluten (40mg, which is equivalent to a crumb of bread)
  • Raw materials are sourced from Japan. View our Quality and Testing protocols here.

Primeadine Original comes in capsule and powder form, however, the latter is only available in the US, UK and Canada.

The capsules are designed to be taken with water at your first or last meal of the day. The powder can be added to smoothies, shakes, oatmeal, or yogurt, so is perfect for those that prefer to mix their supplements with food or drink.

Keep in mind: If you're sensitive to vegetable fiber, the prebiotic might cause bloating. Also, it's not suitable for those with celiac disease, SIBO, leaky gut, or autoimmune conditions due to the gluten content. In these cases, we would recommend Primeadine GF.

Primeadine GF: The Gluten-Free Chlorella-Based Alternative

Primeadine GF is a chlorella-derived spermidine supplement derived from the longevity islands of Japan:

  • Each serving provides 1.2mg of spermidine
  • A serving size is 2 tablets per day
  • Contains the naturally co-occurring polyamine putrescine (a spermidine precursor), but no spermine
  • Includes three autophagy inducers and anti-inflammatories: Chlorella, Okinawan Citrus Lime Peel (providing Nobiletin), and Turmeric
  • Raw materials are sourced from Okinawa, Japan.  View our Quality and Testing protocols here.

The tablets are designed to be taken with water at your first or last meal of the day. They can also be ground up with a pestle and mortar and added to smoothies.

This version is gluten-free and doesn't contain a prebiotic, making it suitable for those with coeliac, gluten sensitivities, digestive issues, and autoimmune conditions.

Keep in mind: It contains iron, so it may not be suitable for those with hemochromatosis. It also contains vitamin K, so is not suitable for those taking blood coagulants. However, it could be beneficial for women with low iron or B12 levels, especially vegetarians and vegans.

Choosing Between the Two

Both versions have reported benefits for sleep, hair growth, and improved deep sleep metrics. Your choice might depend on:

1. Dietary restrictions (gluten-free vs. wheat-based)

2. Nutritional needs (iron and B12 content in Primeadine GF)

3. Digestive sensitivities (prebiotic in Original vs. no prebiotic in GF)

4. Contraindications (vitamin K in Primeadine GF)

5. Ancestral diet preferences (some users report feeling better with the version that aligns with their ancestral diet)

If you don't avoid gluten and don't have any digestive complaints or autoimmune conditions, we would typically suggest to start with Primeadine Original.

Ultimately, the choice between Primeadine Original and Primeadine GF comes down to your personal health needs and preferences. Both offer unique benefits, so consider your individual circumstances when making your decision.
