Quality and testing
Sourcing our ingredients
We source our raw materials from Japan, where they are produced in an FDA-registered facility.
Japan was the natural choice for our supplemental spermidine due to its tradition of consuming spermidine-rich foods like natto and shiitake mushrooms, its expertise in longevity and autophagy (cellular renewal), and its reputation as home to some of the longest-lived people in the world.
Japan also has some of the strictest food safety and quality regulations globally. For example, imports that don't meet their strict standards for purity and toxin levels are rejected, even though they might be accepted in countries like the US with looser rules.
Additionally, we wanted a spermidine manufacturer certified by the Japanese government’s Health Food Standards Institute and managed according to ISO22000 food safety standards.
Maintaining high standards
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) sets guidelines for managing risks and manufacturing. ISO9001 is a common certification ensuring consistent product quality across industries.
ISO22000, focused on food safety, is based on guidelines from the Codex Alimentarius (a UN and WHO partnership). It guarantees food safety from farm to table, including rigorous testing for purity and environmental risks. Raw materials are tracked to quickly resolve quality issues.
Our supplier is both ISO22000 and cGMP certified by the Japan Institute for Health Food Standards (JIHFS), one of only 150 companies in Japan. They also follow HACCP standards recognized by the FDA. Our facility is FDA-registered and has passed inspections. Japan has the most FDA-registered food facilities outside the US.
We ensure health and sustainability throughout our supply chain. After thorough testing in the US, our high-quality raw materials are processed in an FDA-certified facility, encapsulated, and safety sealed.
Synthetic vs. food-derived
Synthetic spermidine is a flat, 2-dimensional chemical mimic, but molecules are 3-dimensional. Humans have co-evolved with plants, and our bodies recognize the natural, 3-dimensional molecules from plants. While our bodies can identify some parts of synthetic versions, they aren't the same—like trying to fit a right hand into a left-handed glove.
We've tested other spermidine products labeled as 'wheat germ with spermidine' and found that they often mix a small amount of wheat germ with large quantities of synthetic spermidine. These low-cost, high-dose options offer no guarantee of safety or effectiveness. Unlike plant-derived spermidine, synthetic spermidine hasn’t been tested for safety or efficacy in humans.

Third-party certification is the best method of verification to ensure the statements being made are indeed validated by outside sources and up to that particular organization’s standards. It’s not the easy way to go, but worth the extra effort.
FDA-registered
An FDA-registered facility must provide evidence to the FDA that they have identified potential hazards with the products being produced in that facility, are implementing preventative controls to address those hazards, and are monitoring the performance of the controls to ensure that they are effective. A registered facility must also show that they comply with State, local, county, tribal, or applicable non-Federal food safety laws, and is subject to regular inspections.
GMP
The GMP approval indicates that the manufacturing and production process is consistently high quality by following guidelines to minimize risks during product production.
JHFA
The JHFA (Japan Health & Food Association), a branch of the Japanese government, provides certification to food products that meet the voluntary standard which is obtained through undergoing a rigorous review process to ensure quality and safety. Only 150 companies in all of Japan have this certification.
Lab Tested
Our suppliers have the most advanced extraction process and rigorous quality control and testing to meet the standards of the Japan Health Food and Nutrition Food Association. In addition, our spermidine is encapsulated in an FDA cGMP facility in the US and undergoes independent 3rd party testing for purity and potency.
Vegan
Vegan is defined as: no animal or animal by-products to include flesh, bones, dairy, eggs, honey, fur, leather, wool, down feathers, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals. Our products do not contain any animal or animal by-products or chemical products tested on animals.
