With the gray skies of February limiting our natural intake of vitamin D through sun exposure, I'm always looking for extra ways to give my immune system a boost and get some extra spermidine into my diet. These fiery immune-supporting shots are just the ticket, with turmeric and ginger supplying their well-known anti-inflammatory properties, and the grapefruit juice adding spermidine to my daily intake.
They're a tasty option at the first sign of a cold to help your body stay fighting fit through the end of winter. Note: it's not necessary to peel the ginger and turmeric, only to wash them well.
Ingredients
4 inches fresh ginger
2 grapefruits
4 garlic cloves, optional
Then combine, the following, in a glass:
1 tsp turmeric juice,
1 tsp ginger juice,
¼ cup of grapefruit juice
Stir to mix and drink immediately.
Makes 2-3 servings.
