Our Founder & CEO, Leslie Kenny
For Leslie Kenny, a Harvard-educated entrepreneur and Oxford-based longevity expert, Oxford Healthspan is not a commercial venture. It is a mission that began with a personal crisis and was answered by science.
Diagnosed with autoimmune conditions in her late 30s and told she could not conceive naturally, Leslie reversed her symptoms through immune modulation and lifestyle changes, and conceived naturally at age 43. That experience became the blueprint for everything Oxford Healthspan stands for: the radical belief that the body, given the right conditions, is capable of extraordinary things.
"Aging well should feel empowering. Primeadine is designed to support a new prime of life."
What is spermidine?
Spermidine is a naturally-occurring molecule found in every living cell. Your body produces it abundantly when you're younger, but levels decline with age, reducing your ability to activate autophagy, your cells' natural renewal and repair process.
Replenishing it through carefully sourced, food-derived supplementation supports the body's natural resilience and vitality over time.
This is not aging interrupted. This is aging activated.
What is autophagy?
Autophagy, from the Greek meaning "self-eating," is the process by which your cells identify, break down, and recycle damaged components. It is one of the body's most elegant and powerful renewal mechanisms, and its role in healthy aging is now firmly established in science.
The discovery of autophagy as a regulated biological process was made by Japanese scientist Yoshinori Ohsumi, whose work earned him the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2016.
Oxford Healthspan is proud to be the only non-Japanese company collaborating with Ohsumi and his team, bringing that pioneering research to the heart of everything we make.
Why whole-food, not synthetic
Many spermidine supplements use a synthetic form, most often spermidine trihydrochloride, an isolated compound made in a lab. Primeadine GF is made from Okinawan chlorella, citrus lime peel, and turmeric. That means spermidine arrives the way it does in food, alongside its natural companions, the polyamines spermine and putrescine.
You may see supplements with a bigger number on the label. We'd rather be measured by what matters to us: where an ingredient grows, how it's grown, and how carefully every batch is tested.
Backed by Oxford science. Trusted by clinicians.
Our work is guided by an international network of scientific and clinical advisors, many of which are affiliated with the University of Oxford, across physiology, immunology, longevity science, and clinical nutrition.

What is spermidine?
Spermidine is a naturally occurring compound known as a polyamine, found in every living cell. It plays a role in supporting the body’s natural cellular maintenance processes, including autophagy, which helps cells renew and function optimally.
While the body can produce spermidine, levels tend to decline with age.
What are the benefits of spermidine?
Spermidine has been studied for its role in supporting cellular health and healthy aging. Research suggests it may contribute to:
- Cellular renewal processes such as autophagy
- Cognitive and cardiovascular health
- Hair, skin, and nail health
- Energy, sleep quality, and overall wellbeing
Many of these effects are linked to its role in supporting the body’s natural maintenance pathways.
Individual experiences vary, but customers often report improvements in energy, sleep, and visible signs of vitality over time.
What's the difference between food-derived and synthetic spermidine?
The key difference lies in how spermidine is delivered and how the body may utilise it.
Food-derived spermidine
Occurs naturally within a whole-food matrix alongside related compounds, including other polyamines such as spermine and putrescine. These naturally co-occurring compounds are part of the body’s polyamine system and may support how spermidine is processed and utilised.
Synthetic spermidine
Is produced in isolation and does not come with this natural matrix. Research into long-term use in humans is still limited compared to food-derived sources.
Why this matters
In whole foods, nutrients exist within a complex structure that can influence absorption and biological activity. Food-derived spermidine reflects this natural context.
What makes Primeadine® superior to other spermidine supplements?
Primeadine® is built around quality, simplicity, and scientific integrity.
- Food-derived spermidine, not synthetically enriched
- Developed alongside scientific advisors, including researchers connected to Oxford
- Third-party tested for purity and potency in both Japan and the USA
- Ingredients sourced from Japan, known for rigorous quality standards
- Free from unnecessary fillers, flow agents, and additives
- Carefully tested for contaminants such as heavy metals and pesticides
Each batch is produced to ensure consistency, purity, and quality.
What is the best spermidine dose to take?
One serving provides 1 mg of food-derived spermidine, consistent with levels used in scientific research.
Individual needs vary. If unsure, consult your healthcare provider before adjusting your intake.
How long does it take to notice results?
Primeadine® works by supporting natural cellular processes, which take time.
While activity begins at a cellular level from the outset, many customers report noticing more meaningful changes after 3 to 6 months of consistent use.
Benefits tend to build gradually with daily use.
What's the difference between Primeadine Original and GF?
Both formulas deliver whole-food spermidine sourced in Japan. They differ in source, dose and what our community mentions most.
Primeadine Original comes from defatted Japanese wheat germ and provides 1mg of spermidine per 3-capsule serving. Customers most often mention hair, skin and nails. It contains a trace of gluten (40mg), so it isn't suitable for anyone with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
Primeadine GF comes from Okinawan chlorella, with lime peel and turmeric, and provides 1.2mg per 4-tablet serving. It's fully gluten-free, and customers most often mention sleep. It contains iron and vitamin K2, so it isn't suitable for anyone with hemochromatosis or taking blood-thinning medication.
Take either at your first or last meal of the day. If you're unsure, choose based on dietary needs first, then the benefit that matters most to you.
