Is Primeadine Organic? Purity, Provenance & Science

Why "Organic" Doesn't Begin to Cover It

You ask the right questions. You read the labels, research the sources, and hold your supplements to a higher standard than most. So when it comes to Primeadine, we want to answer the question we get asked often — are your products organic? — with the honesty and depth you deserve.

The short answer: our ingredients exceed organic standards. Here's the longer, more interesting version.

Grown in Japan, where purity is a way of life

All three Primeadine formulations are made from raw materials sourced in Japan and held to Japanese food quality and safety standards, which are the strictest in the world.

Our products are not certified organic, but not because they fall short. In Japan, organic certification simply isn't a requirement in the way it is in Western markets. The standards are already embedded in the practice. And for chlorella specifically, organic certification doesn't exist, because chlorella isn't grown in soil. Ours is cultivated in specially constructed ponds fed by volcanic spring water. There is no certification body that covers this, and there is no need for one.

Our farmers are small, dedicated producers who have been growing these ingredients for generations. The annual inspections and paperwork involved in Western organic certification would place a disproportionate burden on them and frankly, a certificate would tell you nothing more than you already know.

Primeadine Original: potency, precision, and provenance

Primeadine Original is built around highly concentrated, defatted wheat germ extract — one of the most spermidine-rich whole-food sources on earth, sourced directly from Japan. We've added a corn-derived cluster dextrin from waxy corn starch, also sourced in Japan, which slows the release of nutrients into the bloodstream and supports gut health with its high fiber content.

Each serving of three capsules delivers 1mg of spermidine — the minimum effective dose shown in human clinical trials to be beneficial. The capsules can be opened and mixed into yogurt, porridge, or a smoothie, with a flavour some describe as pleasantly nutty or reminiscent of milk powder. A note for those with specific dietary requirements: this formulation contains 40mg of gluten per serving and is not suitable for those with celiac disease.

Primeadine GF: born from personal experience, refined by science

Primeadine GF is something altogether different — and deeply personal to our founder, Leslie Kenny. As an autoimmune survivor herself, Leslie developed this formulation for everyone who needs the benefits of spermidine without wheat. She has personally visited Okinawa to inspect every element of its production: the volcanic spring water feeding the chlorella pools, the mountain groves where the turmeric grows, the lime trees whose peel yields nobiletin.

The chlorella at the heart of this formula is a unique sub-strain. Not all chlorella is high in spermidine, and most on the market cannot guarantee a clinical dose. Ours can. It also contains no iodine, which is unusual for chlorella and meaningful for those managing thyroid health.

To this foundation we've added two additional autophagy activators: nobiletin, from Okinawan lime peel, and curcumin, from Okinawan turmeric. All three compounds — spermidine, nobiletin, and curcumin — are also potent anti-inflammatories, making Primeadine GF a formulation that works on multiple levels simultaneously. It is fully suitable for those with celiac disease or wheat allergy.

Primeadine Original Powder: the same quality, a different ritual

For those who prefer to weave their spermidine into food rather than take a capsule, Primeadine Original Powder offers the same concentrated, defatted Japanese wheat germ in a versatile powder format. One tub provides a 90-day supply and is the most economical way to make Primeadine a daily ritual. This is also not suitable for those with celiac disease.

Tested to standards that go beyond the label

Every batch of Primeadine is tested by the Japan Food Research Laboratories, one of the most rigorous independent testing bodies in the world, for spermidine content, heavy metals, molds, toxins, including salmonella, GMOs, radiation, and mycotoxins. We test because we believe that what you put into your body deserves verification, not just promises.

We are also the only non-Japanese member of the Japan Autophagy Consortium, whose Senior Adviser is Professor Yoshinori Ohsumi, the 2016 Nobel Laureate in Medicine for his discovery of how autophagy works. Our research partnerships extend to Professor Tomatsu Yoshimori at Osaka University, and here in Oxford, to Professor Katja Simon at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, and Dr Ghada Alsaleh at the Botnar Institute, who leads the UK’s Space Innovation Lab, running aging experiments aboard the International Space Station.

Purity, provenance, and science. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and it’s one that no certification label fully captures.
